Adularia is a transparent variety of orthoclase formed in alpine veins. It belongs to the feldspar group and its hardness is 6-6.5 on the Mohs scale. Adularia can be of different shades of white, gray, pink and yellowish. On its surface it presents a characteristic iridescence called adularescence.
