Adularia is a transparent variety of orthoclase formed in alpine philones. It belongs to the group of feldspars and its hardness is 6-6'5 on the Mohs scale. The flattery can be of different shades of white, grey, pink and yellowish. On its surface it has a characteristic iridescent called adularescence.
