Labradorite belongs to the plagioplase feldspar family and is usually dark gray or bluish in color. It is characterized by its chromatic iridescence in different shades of purple, blue, orange, green and gold. These metallic shines are the result of the labradorescence on its surface. The labradorite also usually shows parallel lines as a result of the twins that form it. It belongs to the group of silicate-tectosilicates and its hardness is 6-6.5 on the Mohs scale.
