MINERALOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS

The vanadinite is a lead chloride vanadiate that belongs to the apatite. It is usually red, although it can also be yellow or brown. It forms prismatic and tabular crystals, sometimes acicular or hairy, and very rarely presents a compact form.

The vanadinite appears as a secondary material in oxidation zones of lead deposits. Sometimes it can be associated with other minerals such as limonite, the galena or the barite.
