MINERALOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS

The thulite is a variety of zoisite dense pink or reddish. It is a hydroxide calcium aluminosilicate belonging to the epidote. It forms normally implanted crystals, prismatic, with vertical striation. Thulite is found in metamorphic rocks and pegmatites.

The name thulite comes from the first place where it was found, Thule, the old name for Norway.

Deposits: Norway, Namibia, Australia and the United States.
