MINERALOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS

The morganite is a variety of beryl of pink color and gem quality. This color is due to the presence of manganese or celsium. You can also find yellow or orange morganites, they usually have chromatic bands.

The morganite usually forms tabular crystals and is found in pegmatites.

The morganite is named after the American banker and collector J.P.Morgan.

Deposits: Brazil, United States, Italy, Madagascar, Mozambique, Russia, Pakistan and Afghanistan.
