MINERALOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS
Lepidocrocite belongs to the iron ore minerals. It forms druses from fine tabular crystals, rosettes and radial aggregates, compact, dense, ruby red to yellow red in color. Appears next to the limonite.
The name of lepidocrocite comes from the Greek "lipis", "scale" and "krokis" , "fiber", referring to its habit.
