MINERALOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS

The green jasper is a microcrystalline variety of quartz (chalcedony), which contains other minerals that give it its opacity and green color, sometimes mottled or veined with gray and black tones. Jasper is usually found in hydrothermal veins, in volcanic rocks, and in sedimentary rocks.

The name of jasper comes from the Greek "iaspis", which means "stained stone". It is found in hydrothermal veins, in volcanic rocks, and in sedimentary rocks.
