MINERALOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS

Herkimer quartz is the name given to a type of transparent quartz and doubly terminated crystals, which grow free inside of a cavity. They are usually found in the form of individual crystals and rarely in the form of a druse.

The Herkimer quartz are also often called diamond quartz, due to their transparency and brilliance. Most of this type of quartz is found in Hérkimer County, in New York, where the most appreciated specimens exist, although quartz of this type in other localities. Herkimer quartz usually has hydrocarbon inclusions inside.

Deposits: United States (Herkimer, New York), Argentina and Spain.

THERAPEUTIC PROPERTIES

It is said that Herkimer quartz has a very high vibratory level. Of all the types of transparent and crystalline quartz, Herkimer quartz is considered the most powerful. It is a great activator and can be used for meditation and to stimulate psychic abilities. It encourages conscious attunement with higher spiritual levels and activates our light body. Physically it can also be used as a protector and as a detoxifier.
