The charoite is a mineral with lilac and violet tones. It often has black, white and orange spots from inclusions of other minerals such as feldspar and augite. Its name comes from the Russian "chari" (magical or enchanting) referring to the colors and iridescence of its surface. It appears massively and its origin is metasomatic from contact between magmatic and metamorphic rocks.
