The Atlantisite is a serpentine, a metamorphic mineral containing inclusions of stichtite. It is brittle and soft and has a pinkish-purple color. It also contains chromite and magnetite. It is a stable variety of gem that is very popular in the jewelry industry.

Atlantisite is the commercial name given to the variety of the gem that comes from a specific mine in Tasmania, Australia.
