MINERALOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS

The astrophyllite gets its name from the Greek words "astron" (star), and "phyllon" (leaf), due to its leaf-shaped appearance radiating bright stellar complexes. It is a hydrated silicate of titanium, manganese, potassium, iron and sodium. Their colors vary from golden yellow to dark brown. We can also find it in greenish brown, white, gray, yellow and orange colors. It is usually opaque or translucent and sometimes transparent.

astrophyllite is a heavy, soft and brittle stone that forms in cavities and fissures in syenite and igneous rocks.

Deposits: Norway, Greenland, Spain, United States, Canada, Russia, Guinea, Brazil, Turkey and Mongolia.

THERAPEUTIC PROPERTIES
