The angelita is the commercial name of the blue anhydrite from Peru. It is a dehydrated calcium sulfate with a blue-gray hue. It is usually granular or massive, and less commonly in crystal form. The angelita has a chemical composition very similar to gypsum but without the water element. In fact, the name anhydrite derives from “an” and “hydra”, which means “without water”. Angelita transforms into gypsum when exposed to water due to absorption.
Deposits: Peru.
The angelita is known to be a stone of inspiration for peace and brotherhood. In crystal therapy it is often used to balance the throat chakra and the third eye, benefiting the tissues, blood vessels and the thyroid. It is said to facilitate communication and telepathy.
