Prasiolite is a green variety of quartz, a chemically silicon dioxide silicate mineral.
Since 1950, almost all natural prasiolite comes from a small Brazilian mine, but it has also been mined in Lower Silesia in Poland. Natural prasiolite has also been found in the Thunder Bay area of Canada. [4] As of February 2019, the only prasiolite-producing mine is located in Brazil, but even that is almost exploited.
Most of the prasiolite sold is used in jewelry environments, where you can replace much more expensive gemstones.
