Moss agate is a microcrystalline variety of the quartz group, a type of chalcedony. There are many types of agates, their color depends on the different materials it may contain. The most abundant are grey, although we also find them in yellow, orange, white, blue and brown. Mossy agate is a type of agate that has no bands, is characterized by its inclusions of green chlorite, iron oxide and manganese, reminiscent of plants or mosses.
