Xylopal

Oxides

Xylopal is a variety of fossilized wood formed approximately 200 to 250 million years ago, during the Triassic period. It originated when ancient trees were buried under layers of silica-rich sediments. Over time, mineral-laden water penetrated the plant structure, progressively replacing the organic matter while preserving much of the original wood structure.

Thanks to this silicification process, xylopal can show veins, growth rings and perfectly visible internal details. Its tones vary according to the minerals present during fossilization, especially iron, copper and manganese, which are responsible for reddish, brown, yellow, black or greyish colors.

Xylopal combines geological and organic characteristics, being appreciated both by mineral collectors and by enthusiasts of fossils and natural decorative elements.

It is also known as petrified wood and is often used in ornamental pieces, sculptures and collector’s objects because of the uniqueness of its natural patterns.

Xylopal is considered a stone of stability, transformation and connection with the earth. Traditionally, it is used to encourage emotional grounding and bring a sense of calm and inner balance.

In crystal therapy, it is associated with processes of personal growth and adaptation to change, helping develop patience, consistency and emotional strength. It is also said to encourage relaxation and help reduce accumulated tension.

Because of its fossilized organic origin, xylopal is often related to ancestral memory, natural wisdom and connection with the cycles of nature. Some energetic traditions use it to encourage mental openness and soften rigid attitudes.

These properties belong to the field of esoteric and energetic traditions and do not replace medical advice or professional treatment.
