Unakite

Silicates - sorosilicates

Unakite, also known as unakite jasper, is a granitic rock composed mainly of green epidote, pink feldspar and white or grey quartz. This combination of minerals gives it its characteristic speckled appearance in green and pink tones.

Its name comes from the Unaka Mountains, located between Tennessee and North Carolina, in the United States, where it was first identified.

From a mineralogical point of view, unakite is not a single mineral, but a rock made up of several components. The presence of epidote provides the green tones, while feldspar creates the pink nuances and quartz adds hardness and stability to the structure.

Traditionally, some Native American peoples considered unakite a sacred stone. Today it is frequently used in crafts, polished pieces, beads, pendants and decorative objects.

Because of its resistance, natural coloration and balanced appearance, unakite is appreciated both in mineral collecting and ornamental jewelry.

Deposits

United States, Brazil, China, South Africa and Sierra Leone.

Unakite is considered a stone of vision, balance and transformation. Because of its combination of green and pink colors, it is traditionally associated with the heart chakra, supporting emotional harmony and affective openness.

It is said to help release blockages from the past gently, accompanying processes of personal and spiritual growth without generating emotional tension.

Unakite is also used as a support stone to encourage energetic healing, inner stability and the integration of difficult experiences.

On a physical level, it is traditionally related to the thyroid, reproductive system and pregnancy, although these attributions belong to the field of energetic therapy and do not replace professional medical advice.
