Green Tourmaline

Silicates - cyclosilicates

Green tourmaline, also known as verdelite, is a variety of tourmaline characterized by its green tones, which may vary from light greens to intense and deep shades.

It belongs to the elbaite family, the gem-quality chromatic tourmalines. This group also includes other appreciated varieties such as blue, red, pink and watermelon tourmaline.

Tourmalines are complex borosilicates with variable chemical composition, although they maintain a common crystal structure. Their crystals are usually prismatic, elongated and with strongly marked longitudinal striations.

Green tourmaline forms mainly in pegmatites, granites and hydrothermal or pneumatolytic veins. Thanks to its transparency, coloration and vitreous luster, it is a highly valued variety both in jewelry and mineral collecting.

Green tourmaline is traditionally associated with healing, renewal and energetic transformation. It is especially related to the heart chakra and to processes linked to emotional balance and affective openness.

According to energetic tradition, it encourages relaxation, helps calm the mind and contributes to a sense of well-being and serenity. It is also considered a stone linked to prosperity, vitality and personal growth.

It is said that green tourmaline helps strengthen the immune system and energetically balance the body. It is also traditionally used to support rest, connection with nature and the harmonization of spaces.

Like the rest of the tourmalines, it is considered a stone of cleansing and energetic protection. According to these beliefs, its natural striations help transform dense energies and raise the vibration of the environment.
