Tiffany stone is considered a variety of fluorite, very light and hard, sometimes with inclusions of chalcedony, opal, quartz and bertrandite. It presents a variety of purple, bluish, pink, green, orange, white and yellow colors, forming swirling patterns. It has excellent electrical and thermal conductivity. It is formed from volcanic ash subjected to high pressures.

Tiffany stone is an extremely rare and highly prized gem found in the only known existing deposit, in a mine in Utah, United States.

The name Tiffany stone is uncertain. It is said to come from the name of a person from Utah named Tiffany Harris. It is also said that the name comes from the Tiffany brand in New York, because of the resemblance to the lilac color used in its decoration.
