Sunstone

(Na,Ca)Al2Si2O8 Silicates - tectosilicates

Sunstone is a gem-quality variety of oligoclase, an abundant plagioclase feldspar. It owes its color and shine to inclusions of hematite or goethite arranged in parallel. In some cases, it may contain copper instead of hematite, as occurs in Oregon sunstone.

Sunstone mainly forms in granitic pegmatites, granites and felsic igneous rocks. It can also appear in metamorphic rocks such as schists and gneisses. It usually occurs in massive or granular habit and, less frequently, in tabular crystals.

Sunstone is associated with vital energy and the regenerating vibration of sunlight. It is linked to the third chakra, the solar plexus, and is used to strengthen self-esteem, willpower and personal security. It is considered a useful stone for cutting negative emotional bonds and encouraging independence.

On the emotional level, it stimulates optimism, joy and motivation. It helps improve mood and face challenges with a more positive attitude. It is also related to energetic cleansing and general revitalization, bringing mental clarity and renewed energy.
