Lepidolite mica is a phyllosilicate ranging from lilac to pink. It usually forms tabular crystals and normally appears associated in granitic pegmatites. It has perfect cleavage, forming thin and flexible sheets.
Lepidolite is the main source of lithium, used for high technology, and also of rubidium, used for dating rocks more than 10 million years old.
The name lepidolite comes from the Greek "lepidos", "sheets", and "lithos", "stone".
