Citrine Quartz

SiO2 Silicates - tectosilicates

Citrine quartz is a crystalline quartz variety of yellow color. Its color is due to the presence of hydrated iron oxide. It forms hexagonal crystals and is normally found in pegmatites and hydrothermal veins. Its name comes from the Latin “citrinus”, referring to its color. Since it is a rarer quartz than other types of quartz, heat-treated amethyst and smoky quartz are sometimes used to obtain a citrine quartz similar to the natural one.
