Cobalt-calcite is a variety of calcite, specifically of the mineral spherocobaltite, which contains cobalt with calcium impurities. It ranges from transparent to translucent and varies in color between light pink and strong fuchsia. It is used to make gems. Its name comes from the German word "kobalt", meaning "goblin", and calcite from the Latin "calx", meaning "lime".
