Mineralogical characteristics
Charoite is a mineral with lilac and violet tones. It often has black, white and orange spots from inclusions of other minerals such as feldspar and augite. Its name comes from the Russian "chari" (magical or charming), referring to the colors and iridescences of its surface. It appears in massive form and has a contact metasomatic origin between magmatic and metamorphic rocks.
