Mineralogical characteristics
Astrophyllite gets its name from the Greek words "astron" (star) and "phyllon" (leaf), due to its leaf-like appearance radiating bright star-shaped complexes. It is a hydrated silicate of titanium, manganese, potassium, iron and sodium. Its colors range from golden yellow to dark brown. It can also be found in greenish brown, white, grey, yellow and orange colors. It is generally opaque or translucent and sometimes transparent.
Astrophyllite is a heavy, soft and fragile stone that forms in cavities and fissures of syenite and igneous rocks.

Therapeutic properties
Astrophyllite awakens sensitivity and perception. It helps connect with potential and raise and maintain vibration. It provides an objective view of oneself and reality, thus helping to let go. It encourages balance between masculine and feminine aspects.
On a healing level, astrophyllite is said to be beneficial for epilepsy, the reproductive system, the nervous system, premenstrual syndrome, cellular regeneration, inflammation of the large intestine and the elimination of fat deposits.
