Angelite

CaSO4 Sulfates

Angelite is the commercial name for blue anhydrite from Peru. It is a dehydrated calcium sulfate with a grey-blue tone. It is usually granular or massive, and less commonly found in crystal form. Angelite has a chemical composition very similar to gypsum but without the water element. In fact, the name anhydrite derives from “an” and “hydra”, meaning “without water”. Angelite transforms into gypsum when exposed to water due to absorption.
