Mineralogical characteristics
Amethyst is a variety of quartz highly appreciated for its beauty, its energy and its long history as a spiritual stone. Of magmatic and hydrothermal origin, it forms under high pressure and temperature conditions inside volcanic cavities. The best-known deposits are found in Brazil and Uruguay.
The characteristic violet color is due to its iron oxide content and the mineral’s exposure to high temperatures. It can be found in druses or inside closed cavities called geodes.
The name "amethyst" comes from the Greek amethustos, meaning "not drunk".

Brazil, Uruguay, Bolivia, Argentina, Mexico, India, Sri Lanka, Zambia, Namibia, Madagascar, Myanmar, Russia, United States and Canada.
Therapeutic properties
Amethyst is known as the stone of harmony, transmutation and inner calm. Its energy is linked to the sixth chakra (third eye), encouraging mental clarity, intuition and connection with inner wisdom.
In stressful situations, amethyst helps restore emotional serenity. It is also related to rest: it is one of the most recommended stones for falling asleep and preventing nightmares.
